Backslope Tools Warranty Progam

Our tools are built and designed outside to endure the rigors of trail building, landscaping and gardening. We firmly stand behind the quaility of our craftsmanship and materials. That being said, our tools are designed to last if they are used as intended.

1. Coverage Periods

We distinguish between the durable metal components of our tools and the consumable nature of handles and heavy-use parts.

  • Metal Heads & Connectors (Private Use): Guaranteed for the Lifetime of the original owner against defects in materials and workmanship.
  • Metal Heads & Connectors (Commercial/Crew Use): Guaranteed for 5 Years from the date of purchase.
  • Handles & Wood Components: Guaranteed for 1 Year against manufacturer defects (e.g., grain runout, structural flaws). This exceeds industry standards, though it does not cover breakage caused by over-stressing or missed strikes.

2. Intended Use

To qualify for warranty coverage, the tool must have been used for its specific intended purpose.

  • Approved Uses: Excavating soil, grading tread, chopping roots, and moving loose debris.
  • Wear & Tear: Normal dulling of cutting edges or paint chipping is considered normal wear and is not a defect.

3. Exclusions (What is Not Covered)

Damage resulting from misuse or abuse is not covered. Common examples of abuse include:

  • Prying: Using the tool as a lever against rocks, roots, or stumps.
  • Rock Strikes: Fractures caused by smashing solid rock or over-striking (hitting the handle/neck against a hard object).
  • Machinery: Damage caused by running over the tool with a vehicle or heavy machinery.
  • Neglect: Leaving tools exposed to the elements for extended periods, resulting in rust or wood rot.

4. Crash Replacement

We understand that trail work is unpredictable. If you damage a tool outside of the warranty terms (e.g., accidental prying damage or expired warranty), we offer a Crash Replacement Program.

  • Offer: We will provide a replacement part at a significantly reduced "nominal fee" (plus shipping) to get you back on the trail.
  • Eligibility: Valid for up to 3 years from the original purchase date.

5. Filing A Claim

To start a claim, please email warranty@backslopetools.com with the following:

  1. Proof of Purchase: Order number or receipt.
  2. Description: A brief explanation of how the failure occurred.
  3. Visual Evidence: High-quality photos of the damage. (Note: In complex cases, we may request a short video or the return of the item for inspection.
